Welcome to sunny Southern California

This is just your typical day in the high desert, east of Los Angeles. What I am trying to figure out is why with all that global warming is the desert blanketed with over three feet of snow?

My wife took these pictures and I am so proud of her. She is snowed in with our two grandkids and I can't begin to imagine how tough that is with no television and nothing for the kids to do.

Out to the west with the swing tree and picnic table.

A little later in the day and the lump Honda continues to be buried.

Morning of December 18, 2008

Still the Honda. I think.

December 18, 2008

Looking southeast from the front porch. The road is buried under there somewhere.

Looking to the southwest from the front door. The lump at the right is the Honda. I think.

December 18, 2008

Looking to the north from the back patio. The expanse beyond the chain link fence is also our property. Anyone for cross-country skiing?

December 18, 2008

A northeasterly look at our closest neighbors. What does it say on your car mirror, images may appear closer than they really are?

Looking due east, our big garage. Nice snow pack. If I could just figure how to put a little lip on the edge and a way for people to get up on the roof, I could have the perfect ski jump.

Another shot to the north from the patio. The fence is five feet tall so that give you an idea of how deep the snow is there. The lump ridges on either side of the gate are our cords of wood for the stove.

Son, Keith, going into the big garage. It has to be really cold inside the garage.

December 18, 2008

Another shot of the swing tree. Snow is actually above the seat.
